1. Who is Eligible for a BPC Waiver?

Waivers and discounts are available to the following categories of authors:

• Authors from low-income countries: As defined by the World Bank, authors affiliated with institutions in low-income economies may apply for a full or partial waiver.
• Early-career researchers: Postdoctoral fellows, PhD students, and researchers within 5 years of their PhD are eligible for a 30% discount.
• Editorial Board Members: Discounts apply as per our Editorial Roles & Benefits page.
• Authors with demonstrated financial need: Authors who can provide evidence of insufficient institutional funding or personal financial hardship may apply for a partial waiver.

2. Application Process

To apply for a BPC waiver or discount, please follow these steps:

1. Submit your manuscript: Complete the submission process through our OMP system. Waiver requests are considered only for manuscripts that have been accepted for publication.
2. Complete the waiver request form: Fill out the BPC Waiver Request Form (downloadable below) and attach any supporting documentation (e.g., a letter from your institution, proof of income, or evidence of country of affiliation).
3. Send to the editorial office: Email the completed form and supporting documents to books@starnexus.press with the subject line “BPC Waiver Request – [Your Name]”.
4. Wait for a decision: The editorial office will review your request and inform you of the outcome within 10 business days.

3. Supporting Documentation

Depending on the basis of your application, you may be asked to provide one or more of the following:

• An official letter from your institution confirming your affiliation and financial status.
• Proof of income or a statement of financial need.
• Confirmation of your country of affiliation (e.g., a letter from your institution or a government-issued document).
• For early-career researchers, a copy of your PhD certificate or a letter from your supervisor confirming your status.

4. Decision and Notification

All waiver requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the editorial office. You will receive a decision within 10 business days of submitting your application. If granted, the waiver or discount will be applied to your final invoice.
