Nexus Sample — Book Processing Charges & Waivers
Nexus Sample is a gold open access book series published by StarNexus Science Press (Hong Kong). To support the costs of peer review, production, and dissemination, a Book Processing Charge (BPC) is levied only upon acceptance. The BPC does not influence editorial decisions. This policy outlines the standard BPC, discounts, waivers, and payment terms.
Standard Book Processing Charge
The standard BPC covers the costs of peer review management, copyediting, typesetting, DOI and ISBN registration, open access hosting, and digital preservation. It is invoiced only after formal acceptance.

Invoiced only after acceptance. No submission fee.
eBook-Only BPC
500 USD
For monographs published in digital format only.
Role-Based Discounts
Authors serving on the editorial board or in editorial roles are entitled to discounts on monographs and edited collections during their term.
Note: Editorial board discounts and academic identity discounts do not stack — the lowest rate applies.
Waivers
Nexus Sample is committed to equitable access. Full or partial waivers are available in the following cases:
Top 40% of Accepted Proposals
Each volume's top 40% of accepted monographs receive a full BPC waiver.
Inaugural Volume
Authors contributing to the inaugural volume receive a 20% discount.
Low-Income Countries
Full waivers are available for authors from low-income countries upon request.
Payment Terms
Service commitment: Publishing services commence upon contract signing. Full payment is due only after final acceptance of the published work.
- No upfront payment: No payment is required to initiate the publishing process.
- Pay only after acceptance: Full payment is due only after the monograph is accepted and ready for publication.
- All-inclusive pricing: All costs are transparent and clearly stated. No hidden charges for layout, figures, or page length (within standard limits).
- Discounts apply automatically: Role-based discounts are applied automatically at the time of invoicing.
- Waiver requests: Please contact the editorial office for any waiver-related inquiries.
